On July 4, as a nation we celebrate our 241st birthday. Our independence day. What better way to celebrate than with a star studded birthday concert broadcast live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
The show will be hosted by Uncle Jessie, um, John Stamos, and feature a star-studded line-up including the Beach Boys with Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath and the Blues Brothers (Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi) with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy winner Sam Moore.
Actress and singer Sofia Carson will open the show with her rendition of the national anthem.
Adkins will deliver his “Still a Soldier,” a song that honors veterans who have fought for our freedom as Americans.
Recent “The Voice” winner Chris Blue will take the stage along with the Choral Arts Society of Washington, as well as Yolanda Adams. The Four Tops will be playing a medley of their big hits.
C-3PO and R2D2 are scheduled to appear at the patriotic program, as well as Broadway star Laura Osnes
Jack Everly is also appearing, along with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” and The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets.
Members of the Armed Forces will carry the State and Territorial Flags and the Armed Forces Color Guard will be provided by the Military District of Washington, D.C.
Every year, the “1812 Overture,” fireworks and cannon fire create a Fourth of July moment. This feat is achieved by expertly timed cues from the Presidential Salute Battery and the National Symphony Orchestra.
