Thomas Rhett Talks About Fatherhood’s Influence on His Music

Thomas Rhett

Country artist Thomas Rhett has been pretty busy lately. Between bringing home his adopted daughter Willa Gray and preparing for his wife Lauren to have their second child later this year, it seems he’s been thrown into fatherhood at full speed!

His music hasn’t gone by the wayside with all these life changes, though. In fact, he seems to have found a way to blend his career with his adventures in fatherhood. In a recent interview with The Advocate, Rhett revealed that he’s drawing inspiration from his new role as a dad while he writes new songs for a future album.

“The last 20 or so song titles I’ve put in my phone have been about my daughter,” Rhett told The Advocate, clarifying that these songs won’t be on his upcoming record, but the one following it. “The record that is going to come out later this year was written before I had kids. There are a couple songs that allude to how life is going to change drastically in the next year. But on the fourth record, for sure, there’s going to be a lot about my children.”

Thomas Rhett also opened up about the new emotions that come when he leaves home to hit the road. Although he’s not sure that the “guilt” of leaving to work will ever go away, he does have new motivation to do his job well. “Before you had kids, it was all about going out there and trying to win at awards shows and sell as many tickets as possible and trying to have multi-week No. 1 (singles),” Rhett told The Advocate, “After you have kids, you still want those things. But at the forefront of your brain is, ‘How can I give my child the best life humanly possible?'”

There’s no doubt that Thomas Rhett will be a great father to both of his children, and we know his music will get even sweeter as he writes about them!
