The two singers broke up years ago, but as Campbell battled Alzheimer’s disease, the singer was working through her own emotions. She has revealed a new song “Forever Loving You,” to honor the “Rhinestone Cowboy.”
The heartbroken Tucker shared a statement on the passing of her past love:
“I’m just devastated. Absolutely devastated. It’s been so hard these past several years knowing what he’s been going through. My heart just breaks. Glen and I shared some incredible, precious memories together for a long time. There were some ups and downs and, of course, all the downs were played out in the press. We both got past all that. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing. It’s why I’m releasing “Forever Loving You” in memory of Glen and for all of those who are losing or have lost someone they love. I’ll forever love you, Glen.”
A portion of the proceeds from the song will benefit the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, a non-profit organization which provides programs and services for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers, as well as funds research towards a cure for Alzheimer’s.
“Forever Loving You”
If I could spend just one more minute with you before you have to go
If I could see you one more time before you have to leave this world
I’d hold you in my arms tonite just like we used to do,
I could leave this world a happy girl, forever loving you
If i’d a loved you like you were all that mattered in this whole world to me
If i could turn back the hands of time, God if i only could
I’d go back now and change my life and make it up to you,
Then I could slip away for all eternity, forever loving you.
If i could find a way to go back now and let you take my hand,
if i could find a way to touch your heart and make you understand,
I don’t know why it has to be this way, but there’s nothing I can do.
So i’ll go on living forever loving you
I never stopped loving you even after all these years,
I still feel you next to me at night when you’re not here
Oh, how your sweet songs stay with me even after all this time
Your memory’s right here in my heart, forever on my mind
I’ll just go on living, forever loving you.
