When you think of Miranda Lambert, chances are you think of one of the leading ladies in country music today. The reigning ACM Awards Female Vocalist of the Year (for nine consecutive years) is certainly carrying a torch down this road she calls an incredibly successful career. However, it seems like with each passing year, Lambert detaches a bit more from the spotlight and simply settles into a more secluded and comfortable way of life.
Perhaps that is why her latest single, “Keeper of the Flame,” possesses multiple meanings.
The song, which consists of Lambert referring to herself as the keeper of the flame, denotes that the country music star recognizes that her time on the top of the world is not forever. Instead, Lambert is holding a torch until it is time to pass it along to the next woman who will fill her undeniably incomparable shoes.
Today, Lambert shared via press release that she is aware of the responsibility she has to beautifully represent the females in the genre, but she is also readying herself to relinquish her throne and watch the next generation of talented ladies take over.
I feel like I have a huge responsibility from all of the women that have come before me and blazed this trail that let me live my dream and write the songs I want to write. I hope that I’m making them proud while I get to hold this torch for a while, and I can’t wait to pass it along to these new singer-songwriters.
