Yesterday was the big day for Grammy Award winner Maren Morris and her longtime singer-songwriter boyfriend/fiance, Ryan Hurd. The two were married in front of family and friends after several recent social media posts from Morris expressing her excitement about saying “I do.”
While details are still undisclosed, Morris posted earlier in the week that she was writing her own vows for her husband-to-be.
Writing vows, feeling sentimental AF and dreaming of this guy being my freaking husband in a few days.
To add more sentiment to the day, Morris also wore a custom designed dress that paid homage to the one her mom wore. Cavanagh Baker created Morris’ dress, which was short in the front and had a long train behind it. The train was detachable for comfort during the reception.
Morris’ dress can be seen in full in an Instagram post she shared today, and the shortened version was shown in a post by Hurd.
While Hurd captioned his post with their wedding date, March 24, 2018, Morris opted for a simple “my last turn home.” The caption references a Tim McGraw song that Morris and Hurd penned the first time they met at a 2013 songwriting session. They were later engaged (in July 2017) in Hurd’s home state of Michigan.
Hurd recently debuted a new song he wrote, “Diamonds or Twine,” as a gift to Morris. He first played it for her the night they were engaged. While on SiriusXM The Highway, Hurd shared that the song, written with Laura Veltz and Mark Trussell, was a part of a moment he’ll always hold dear.
I played this song for Maren the night we got engaged. We were at the lake in Michigan, on the dock, and I will never forget that moment.
