Last night on the finale of American Idol, judge and country music star Luke Bryan performed his brand new single. The song, “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset,” is poised to be a summer favorite for country music fans.
The new single, which serves as the second off Bryan’s sixth studio album, What Makes You Country, was written by Zach Crowell, Ryan Hurd, and Chase McGill. The laid back, groovy tune comes on the heels of his No. 1 optimistic song, “Most People Are Good.” The lead single from his most recent album earned Bryan his twentieth chart-topping hit of his career; and we have a feeling his twenty-first will come with this new release.
What Makes You Country helped Bryan continue his No. 1 album streak, earning him his fourth consecutive chart-topping project in a row. His other two albums, which were released in 2007 and 2009, peaked at No. 2. Additionally, Bryan’s other five albums have all been certified gold by the RIAA, with four of the five reaching platinum or higher status.
Additionally, Bryan has achieved consecutive No. 1 singles since 2011 when “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” peaked at No. 4. With the vocalist behind this new single, “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset,” the phenomenal team of writers with credits on the track, and the timing of the tune, it is predictable that Bryan’s streak will continue with this soon-to-be smash hit.

Bryan will kick off his What Makes You Country summer tour in support of his current album on May 31. His tour will begin in Toronto and travel to stadiums, arenas, and festivals all over North America until it comes to a close in October. Joining Bryan on the road this year will be Sam Hunt, Jon Pardi, Morgan Wallen, and Carly Pearce.
