Country music singer-songwriter and Grammy Award winner Kacey Musgraves is currently out on tour with pop singer Harry Styles. Last night, Musgraves’ two worlds collided when the tour stopped in Nashville, Tennessee; the country music capital of the world.
While in Music City, Musgraves received the surprise of a lifetime. As she left the stage at the Bridgestone Arena, she was greeted by her team, displaying something that few artists will ever have in their collection. Musgraves was honored with RIAA platinum certification for her Grammy Award and ACM Award winning debut album, Same Trailer Different Park. The plaque signifies over one million sales or streams of the 2013 project.
Musgraves’ debut album contained twelve tracks, all co-written by the outlaw country girl. She also co-produced Same Trailer Different Park with Luke Laird and Shane McAnally. In its first week of sales in March 2013, the album rose to No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200, while debuting at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. Following its Grammy win for Best Country Album in February 2014, sales spiked again, moving Musgraves back to that coveted No. 1 position.
Same Trailer Different Park garnered four singles: “Merry Go Round,” “Blowin’ Smoke,” “Follow Your Arrow,” and “Keep It to Yourself.” The singles peaked in the Top 10, Top 30, Top 10, and Top 40, respectively. Like the album it is featured on, the poignant and embracing “Follow Your Arrow” is certified platinum by the RIAA for selling over one million copies.
Congratulations to Kacey Musgraves and team on their platinum certification. As a little flashback to celebrate the album’s success, watch the music video for “Follow Your Arrow” above!
