Around here, we ain’t above having a cold one every now and then, and we’ve got the perfect tunes to go along with it. It seems like just about every country singer has recorded a drinking song in their career, and some are better than others. Just in time for the weekend, we’ve rounded up some of the best! Here are our favorite country music drinking songs!
1. “Misery and Gin” – Merle Haggard
As Merle always said, “Memories and drinks don’t mix too well.” This classic song from the Hag is all about drinkin’ the memories away.
2. “Day Drinking” – Little Big Town
Who says you have to wait til nighttime to enjoy a cold drink? Not Little Big Town! If you want to get a head start long before sundown, they fully support your day drinking.
3. “I Love This Bar” – Toby Keith
A cold beer in your hand is so much better when you’re enjoying it with folks you know and love. Whether your favorite spot is a dive bar like Toby Keith, or maybe just your front porch swing, let’s raise a glass to your drinkin’ buddies.
4. “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” – Joe Nichols
Alcohol can do some crazy things to us all, and Joe Nichols knows exactly what it does to his lady! You HAVE to watch this music video if you need a good laugh… this time Grandma’s gotten into the tequila!
5. “There’s a Tear in My Beer” – Hank Williams Sr.
Hank Williams Sr. had a similar idea as The Hag– to drink away the lonely memories. Sorrow and alcohol are an age-old combo in country music!
6. “Family Tradition” – Hank Williams Jr.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and Hank Williams Jr. keeps up the “family tradition” that his dad started. Ever the party man, Hank Jr. wrote this song that can always get a crowd singing along.
7. “Chug-a-Lug” – Roger Miller
Watch out– this one will get stuck in your head! If you grew up out in the country just chug-a-lugging away on some moonshine, you’ll appreciate this classic Roger Miller tune.
