Blake Shelton got emotional on twitter today in memory of his brother.

“Lost my brother 27 years ago today. I was only 14 at the time but it changed my life forever… Made me realize that life is precious and there’s no time like RIGHT NOW to go for it… We still miss you Richie!!”

Shelton and his then-wife Miranda Lambert wrote a heart wrenching tribute song that was inspired by his late brother, “Over You.” The song would go on to win the duo CMA and ACM awards for Song of the Year in 2012.

The Voice coach released his latest project, Texoma Shore, this week to the Number One position in country music. Six songs from the album made it onto the Billboard Country Airplay Top 40 chart.

What is the song takes you back or reminds you of someone you have lost?

“Over You”

Verse 1:
Weather man said it’s gonna snow
By now I should be used to the cold
Mid-February shouldn’t be so scary
It was only December
I still remember the presents, the tree, you and me

Chorus:
But you went away
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be OK
But I’m not going to ever get over you

Verse 2:
Living alone here in this place
I think of you, and I’m not afraid
Your favorite records make me feel better
Cause you sing along
With every song
I know you didn’t mean to give them to me

But you went away
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be OK
But I’m not going to ever get over you

It really sinks in, you know, when I see it in stone

Cause you went away,
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be OK
But I’m not going to ever get over you
